Severe Visual Impairment

Loss of visual efficiency, or visual impairment, in the better eye is characterized by a severe reduction in visual performance after the best possible correction has been applied. This condition can be quantified by either a visual efficiency percentage of 20 or less or a visual impairment value of 1.00 or greater, reflecting significant limitations in visual function.
