Freedom of Movement

Freedom of movement is a fundamental human right that allows individuals to travel, reside, and work within their own country or internationally without unjustified restrictions. Protected by various international human rights instruments, such as the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (Article 13) and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (Article 12), this right encompasses both the liberty to move within a country's borders and the freedom to leave and return to one's own country or to enter and reside in another country, subject to certain limitations for reasons of national security, public order, or public health.
