Mollusks are a diverse phylum of invertebrate animals known as Mollusca, characterized by a soft body, which in many species is protected by a hard shell. This group includes snails, clams, squids, and octopuses, and they inhabit a wide range of environments from deep ocean floors to freshwater and terrestrial habitats.
